I’ve been waiting to see Bjork for something like 15 years. Maybe longer, I’m not real sure. See, I was living in the middle of nowhere for the majority of my life. Traveling to any of the places Bjork was playing shows when I was in college was not an option, and she didn’t come anywhere close. When I finally moved to “somewhere” (in this case The South), Bjork decided to skip Atlanta on her tour. Thanks! So, FINALLY after living in a place where Bjork was actually playing I was absolutely stoked to finally be able to see her in concert.

Anyway, as for the show itself I guess Bjork is an experience without comparison or description really. Loud thumping bass, Bjork’s amazing voice and some really bad-ass electronics. I was utterly ENTHRALLED by the ReacTable every time it was shown on the screens. I guess that’s how much of a nerd I am, but it was really neat to see a guy twiddling blocks on a table and making the sounds. The setlist was a mix of old stuff, new stuff and a bit of improvisational things when some of the electronics didn’t quite work out as well as planned on Hyperballad. Einar (!) came out during I Miss You to help out with some crazy dancing and horns, and that was something unexpected and fantastic. His opening set, by the way, was one of the craziest things i’ve seen in a while. It’s not every day you see a middle aged guy in jeans yelling about stuff over electro-thrash hip hop beats that are louder than hell. (and it’s not every day that you want to either, and I think if it were anyone but him I’d have just said “wow this sucks, but instead it was fairly entertaining!).

It was a fantastic show. I just wish she toured more often and to more cities so everyone could enjoy it. (and so I could get a second chance at a first great show).
